Polypropylene woven bags and sacks are gradually gaining popularity as an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastic bags. The study, titled "Polypropylene Woven Bag and Sacks Market," highlighted the environmental hazards related to PE (polyethylene) and encouraged adoption of PP woven plastic bags and sacks in an effort to reduce these harmful effects. This report is based on the research conducted by Global Woven Bag Association (GWBA) and the European Union's (EU) Environment Agency. The report was published as part of the SWED project (study of the world's leading PP woven bag and sack manufacturers).
Plastic bags have long been popular among the general public and companies worldwide. However, the high production costs and the environment-destructing properties of plastic make them unsuitable for wide-scale use in the production of goods such as paper bags. Single-use plastic bags fall under the ban, due to their excessive usage as carrier items during grocery shopping. As a result, the waste generated due to such unnecessary plastic usage causes great damage to the environment and to human health. With the introduction of polypropylene woven plastic bags and sacks, the manufacturing of such plastic carriers has been made possible at lower production costs. PP woven plastic bags are made from polypropylene that is an extremely versatile and durable material.
The researchers in this study concluded that the market for PP woven bags and sacks is expected to grow steadily due to its high availability in markets. It is expected that PP woven plastic bags and sacks manufacturers will continue to use more energy-efficient manufacturing techniques to decrease their production costs and improve the quality of their products. Further research is also needed to determine how PP woven plastic bags and sacks can be used as an environmentally friendly packaging solution and to promote their use. It is also recommended that further efforts should be made to improve the efficiency of the collection, transportation, handling and disposal of plastic carrier bags to minimize the environmental impact on the natural resources.
